Chiefline Releases New Resource Reviewing ISLLC Standards
By Mary CanoleCCSSO has released a new resource titled Standards for Educational Leaders: An Analysis, written by Mary Canole (CCSSO) and Michelle D. Young (UCEA). The purpose of this report is to review the ISLLC 2008 standards in light of today's educational context, research and practice. This report provides an analysis of leadership standards, a history of the ISLLC standards and CCSSO's Performance Expectations and Indicators for Education Leaders, a review of leadership research and the key changes in the education context since 2007, and questions to inform stakeholder discussions concerning the review of leadership standards related to whether a new set of leadership standards should be developed to serve as living documents, responsive to ongoing changes in the education context. States will find current research, standards maps and samples of state and district leadership standards especially useful as they use leadership standards to support their leader support and evaluation systems. CCSSO acknowledges support from The Wallace Foundation for this report.
