CCSSO to Host Communications Directors and Common Core Policy Leads in New Orleans

CCSSO will host the Communications Directors Network and Implementing the Common Core Standards meetings next week in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

CCSSO will host state communications and policy staff on May 13-14 to develop and/or refine strategic communications plans to advance state efforts to prepare all students for college and career. Participants will explore strategies to engage with stakeholders on implementation of college- and career-ready standards, and new assessments. There will be workshops, small group, and informational sessions. 


Following this convening, state Common Core policy staff will particiapte in a two-day meeting on May 15-16 that will focus on building the capacity of state agencies to support implementationof the Common Core State Standards in preparation for common assessments. Dialogue withnational experts, within state teams and across states will focus on:

  • Alignment of policies and programs across the state to provide coherence to CommonCore implementation,
  • State support for shifts in curriculum and instruction,
  • Preparing educators, school leaders and community members for new college andcareer ready assessments.
