CCSSO launches Research and Development Advisory Committee

In December 2011, CCSSO welcomed 12 esteemed colleagues of research and practitioner backgrounds into a Research and Development (R&D) Advisory committee intended to help guide CCSSO's research efforts.  Comprised of diverse experts within educational research, development, and practitioner communities, the R&D Advisory has been instrumental in helping to design the nature of CCSSO's involvement within the educational research ecosystem.  They continue to provide guidance to CCSSO's research activities and recommend opportunities for CCSSO to bridge research and practice.

The inaugural R&D Advisory committee members included:

  • Kimberly Oliver Burnim, 2006 National Teacher of the Year, Broad Acres Elementary School
  • Anthony Carnevale, Director, Center on Education and the Workforce, Georgetown University
  • Susan Castillo, State Superintendent of Public Education, Oregon Department of Education
  • Glen Harvey, Chief Executive Officer, WestEd
  • Anthony Jackson, Executive Director, Asia Society
  • Christopher Koch, Superintendent of Education, Illinois State Board of Education
  • Jim Kohlmoos, Executive Director,  National Association of State Boards of Education (formerly President, Knowledge Alliance)
  • Christopher Lohse, Vice President for Strategic Affairs, Pearson Education (formerly Director of Research and Development, Council of Chief State School Officers)
  • Hans L'Orange, Vice President for Research and Information Resources, State Higher Education Executive Officers
  • David Osher, Vice President, American Institutes for Research
  • Isis Randolph-McCree, Senior Program Officer, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
  • Dave Snowden, Founder, CognitiveEdge
  • Vivian Tseng, Senior Program Officer, William T. Grant Foundation

CCSSO also welcomed two Liaisons to the R&D Advisory, including:
