CCSSO Hosts “Back to School” Webinar: Engaging with Parents about Common Core

CCSSO is hosting a "Back to School" webinar on Monday, August 26 at 3pm ET focused on providing state education agencies with helpful information for reaching out to parents about the changes Common Core will bring to their children's classrooms. Lee Ann Kendrick from the national Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Sharon Whitworth of the Kentucky 15 District PTA will present resources created and tactics used to engage, educate, and reach out to parents about the Common Core.

Parent engagement is a vital step in successful Common Core implementation. As more students experience the shifts of Common Core in the classroom, states need to be sure that parents are engaged and knowledgeable about these changes. The imminent implementation of new Common Core-aligned assessments scheduled for the 2014-2015 school-year makes parent preparation even more critical.
