State Chiefs Speak about NCLB Waiver Applications
Please join the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Monday, November 14 for a briefing on state waiver applications.
Several states will submit applications to the U.S. Department of Education on November 14 seeking waivers of certain provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). These waivers will allow states the flexibility to develop stronger accountability and teacher evaluation systems, and provide relief from current provisions preventing states moving forward with reform.
John Barge, Georgia State School Superintendent, Mitchell Chester, Massachusetts Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, Robert Hammond, Colorado Commissioner of Education, and Mike Grego, Special Assistant to the Commissioner in Florida will speak about their state applications and the implications of the waivers on state policies and practice. Gene Wilhoit, CCSSO Executive Director will moderate the conversation.
