Accountability: New School Quality Snapshot for Parents
Riverside Press-Enterprise (California) (10/10/12) Klampe, MichelleThe California Department of Education has rolled out new School Quality Snapshots for each of the state's 10,000 public schools. These two-page documents provide information on the school's test scores, class sizes, fitness levels, and graduation rates, as well as a five-year overview of the school's performance on key indicators and state- and district-level data. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson says, "Until now, parents had to scan more than a dozen different Web pages to compile this much information about their child's school. The School Quality Snapshot brings it all together in real time-in a colorful and concise format that's easy to follow and understand. It's a significant step forward in transparency and accountability for parents and the public."This news brief was summarized for Chiefline, CCSSO's weekly newsletter.
