$300,000 Awarded to Indiana Schools

The Indiana Department of Education announced that 53 groups would receive 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants this year, including the Monroe County Community School Corporation, which received $300,000. Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz issued $11.1 million in grants, with awards ranging between $50,000 and $300,000. The grants will help communities with high instances of poverty and low-performing schools, targeting after-school programs in particular. Ritz said, "These groups work throughout the state to support student learning and development in communities affected by poverty. I am honored to award these organizations which are working every day to strengthen our communities."
