01/17/13: Vermont Joins Alternate Assessment System Consortium

Vermont has joined 13 other states in the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Alternative Assessment Consortium headed by the University of Kansas' Center for Educational Testing and Evaluation. The consortium -- which also includes Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin -- is creating a computer-based assessment for K-12 public school students with significant cognitive disabilities.

01/16/13: High School Graduation Rate on the Rise in Montana

Montana's 2012 Graduation and Dropout report revealed that the number of dropouts decreased from nearly 2,500 students in the 2008-09 school year to more than 1,800 students in the 2011-12 school year, and the graduation rate increased nearly 2 percent to about 84 percent.
